The Mommy makeover procedure is very popular because it addresses multiple concerns and can most often be completed in a single operation. Having just one surgery reduces the total time you will need to be placed under general anesthesia and shortens your recovery time. The recovery for abdominoplasty will take longer than breast augmentation or a breast lift. Board-Certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Laliberte will walk you through the mommy makeover options and discuss how the sequence of surgeries would be performed.

Breast Augmentation
The surgical placement of breast implants can increase the fullness and projection of the breasts, improve symmetry, enlarge a naturally small breast, restore breast volume lost following pregnancy and/or breastfeeding, and enhance self-image and self-confidence. The results are immediately visible and over time the breasts will settle naturally.
Breast Lift
A Mastopexy raises and firms the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast contour. Sometimes the areola becomes enlarged overtime and a breast lift will reduce this. A breast lift can rejuvenate your figure with a breast profile that is youthful and uplifted. Breast lift surgery does not significantly change the size of your breasts or round out the upper part of your breast.
Breast Augmentation With Lift
If you want your breasts to look fuller, you may want to consider breast lift with augmentation surgery. A breast lift may be a good option if you are bothered by the feeling that your breasts sag, have lost shape and volume, your nipples or areolas point downward, you have stretched and enlarged areolas or one breast is lower than the other. Is It Worth Getting A Mommy Makeover?
A Mommy makeover procedure is becoming very popular because as it addresses a number of concerns in a single operation. That offers patients a number of benefits compared to having several separate procedures. Those advantages include:
- A single recovery period: With a mommy makeover, you only need to arrange for time off work, household help, etc. all within one period. Your discomfort and recovery period will be consolidated, rather than spread out and prolonged across multiple individual procedures.
- Your satisfaction: The majority of patients enjoy the feeling of seeing the physical improvements all at once, rather than spread out over multiple procedures.
- The duration of the surgery will depend on the procedures performed and the extent of the surgery required. After you have recovered from the general anesthesia – typically two hours after surgery – you will be discharged to the care of a friend or loved one, who should stay with you overnight. You will receive detailed post-op directions to ensure your recovery is as seamless as possible.
Each patient’s experience is different to some degree, however, Mommy Makeover patients typically take around two weeks off from work in order to get their healing well underway. You will wear a compression garment for several weeks for support and to assist with the healing process, and you will be advised to keep your activity level light to moderate. Dr. Laliberte will advise you as to when you can safely begin exercise and other strenuous activities. You can generally expect mild-moderate discomfort of the breast, which will gradually improve over 3-5 days.
Swelling to the breasts usually subsides after three weeks, but can sometimes be longer. If you have received a breast augmentation, they may sit higher on the chest wall. This is normal. It may take several weeks for the implants to lower into place as the skin and muscle stretch to accommodate your new breast implants. You may experience moderate discomfort and tightness in your abdominal area, which will typically improve over about 1 week. During this time, your ability to stand up straight will also increase. If your work-life keeps you sedentary, you may plan on returning to work in 10-14 days, with the understanding that you may still have discomfort with motion. You will need to avoid lifting anything heavier than 10 pounds for 6 weeks and avoid any strenuous exercise and activities for 6 weeks.
