Tummy Tuck | Abdominoplasty
Contour your body and flatten your abdomen by removing loose, excess fat and skin via a Tummy Tuck procedure
Look and Feel Amazing…[/textitem][/cq_vc_typewriter]
Due to Dr. Laliberte’s expertise in body contouring, he routinely performs surgical body procedures, the most popular of which is the tummy tuck (abdominoplasty). Depending on a patient’s goals, multiple surgical body procedures can be combined or performed in succession, where appropriate such as in major weight loss cases (body lift, arm lift, SAFE liposuction) or post-pregnancy mommy makeovers (abdominoplasty with SAFE liposuction plus breast procedure). Visit us for a private consultation to increase your self confidence and sculpt your desired shape.
Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
Tummy-tuck surgery or corset abdominoplasty can flatten your abdomen by removing loose, excess fat and skin in which the remaining skin is then repositioned to create a more toned look. It can also remove some if not all of the stretch marks in your lower abdomen. Surgery typically takes 3-4 hours.
This procedure is popular following pregnancy, weight loss or whenever excess fat or skin on the abdomen with weak muscles impairs body contour.
Tummy Tuck with SAFE Lipo-Sculpting (Lipo-Abdominoplasty)
A full tummy tuck or lipo-abdominoplasty surgery combines full circumferential SAFE lipo-sculpting with corset abdominoplasty, both as described above. Surgery typically takes 3-4 hours.
This procedure is popular following pregnancy, massive weight loss or whenever a flabby abdomen with weak muscles impairs body contour.
How much does a Tummy Tuck | Abdominoplasty cost?
Each of our patient’s cases is unique, however, the average cost of a Tummy Tuck with Lipo Sculpting (Abdominoplasty) can range from $9,000 – $11,500
The average cost of a Full Lipo-Tummy Tuck (Full Lipo-Abdominoplasty) can range from $12,000 – $14,500
Why should I get a Tummy Tuck | Abdominoplasty?
There are a number of reasons you may have excess fat, poor elasticity of the skin or weakened connective tissue in your abdomen. These may include:
- Significant changes in weight
- Abdominal surgery, such as a C-section
- Your natural body type
A tummy tuck can remove loose, excess skin and fat, and tighten weak fascia. A tummy tuck can also remove stretch marks and excess skin in the lower abdomen below the belly button.
If you’ve previously had a C-section, Dr. Laliberte may be able to incorporate your existing C-section scar into your tummy tuck scar.
A tummy tuck can also be done in combination with other alternate body contouring procedures, such as breast surgery.
How should I prepare for a Tummy Tuck | Abdominoplasty
Initially, you will have a consultation with Dr. Laliberte. Dr. Laliberte will:
- Review your medical history
- Specify any allergies to medications
- Do a physical exam.
- Discuss your expectations
Before the procedure, you may also need to:
- Stop smoking
- Avoid certain medications
- Maintain a stable weight
- Take medication to prevent complications
- Arrange for help during recovery
There are a number of different procedures for a tummy tuck, depending on the extent of change you would like to see. During the procedure, Dr. Laliberte will make incisions to remove most of the skin and fat between your belly button and pubic hair in a horizontal oval or elliptical shape. Connective tissue that lies over the abdominal muscles is then tightened with permanent sutures.
Dr. Laliberte will then reposition the skin around your belly button. Your belly button will be brought out through a small incision and sutured in its normal position. The incision from hip to hip above the pubic hair will be stitched together and will leave a scar that falls along the natural crease within the bikini line.
The procedure typically takes about two to three hours to complete.
After the procedure
After a tummy tuck, your abdominal incision and belly button will likely be covered with surgical dressing. Small tubes might be placed along the incision site to drain any excess blood or fluid.
You will likely feel moderate pain and swelling in the surgical area. Drains also may be left in for several days following your surgery. Dr. Laliberte or another member of our health care team will show you how to empty and care for your drains.
You will be directed to wear a supportive abdominal garment (abdominal binder) for about six weeks after your tummy tuck. This specifically helps to prevent fluid buildup and provides additional abdominal support while you heal.
For the first six weeks after a tummy tuck, you’ll need to be careful when moving around. You’ll also need to avoid positions that strain your incision line, such as quickly bending at the waist in order to prevent the reopening of the wound.
It is helpful to line up support for at least the first day or two that you are home following your procedure. You will be prescribed pain medications and have somewhat limited mobility, so you will not be able to drive yourself home.
Once home, you will likely have difficulty with bending, lifting and standing for prolonged periods of time, so having someone to help around the house during the initial period after tummy tuck surgery can make recovery significantly easier.
By the third and fourth week of recovery, following the guidance of Dr. Laliberte and our healthcare team, you will likely feel pretty much back to normal.
The tummy tuck removes extra skin and repairs torn or weak muscles using stitches. Liposuction can be used to treat many areas that contain excess fat, including the stomach, butt, thighs, hips, back, neck, arms, and more. A tummy tuck, as the name suggests, only involves the lower abdominal area.[/cq_vc_accordion_item][cq_vc_accordion_item accordiontitle=”When Can I Return to Work After A Tummy Tuck?”]Recovery time varies from patient to patient, but you can expect to be back at work within two to six weeks after your surgery. We prepare our patients to stay one to two nights in a hospital setting where we can monitor your drainage and how your body responds to the procedure. Once a patient is discharged, we recommend the drainage tubes stay in place for one to two weeks. During this time, all physical activity should be limited.[/cq_vc_accordion_item][cq_vc_accordion_item accordiontitle=”What Are The Different Types Of Tummy Tucks?”]The most common types of tummy tucks are:
- Fleur de Lys Abdominoplasty (Traditional Abdominoplasty)
Fleur de Lys Abdominoplasty (FDL) refers to the traditional tummy tuck in which excess skin is removed and tucked vertically across the lower abdominal area.
- Full Body Lift or Circumferential Abdominoplasty
Circumferential abdominoplasty is an extended abdominoplasty plus a buttock lift. The resulting scar runs all the way around the body, and the operation is also called a Belt Lipectomy or lower body lift. This operation is most appropriate for patients who have undergone significant weight loss.
- Extended Abdominoplasty
An extended abdominoplasty is a complete abdominoplasty plus a lateral thigh lift. The resulting scar runs from the posterior axillary line (when placing your open hands on your hips, the thumbs lie along the posterior axillary line.) The operation does all of the abdominal contouring of a complete abdominoplasty and allows further improvement of the flank (waist), as well as smoothing the contour of the upper lateral thigh.
- Mini Abdominoplasty
A mini Tummy tuck is generally skin only.[/cq_vc_accordion_item][cq_vc_accordion_item accordiontitle=”Does A Tummy Tuck Get Rid Of Stretch Marks?”]A Tummy Tuck can help eliminate or reduce the appearance of stretch marks, but this will depend on the location of the stretch marks on your body.
