BREAST AUGMENTATION AT RADIANCE PLASTIC SURGERY
Breast Augmentation & Breast Implant Benefits
ADDED VOLUME AND CURVES
Some women are born with breasts that are naturally small and flat and don’t provide their desired curves to their physique. Because breast implants especially add volume to the top of the breasts, breast augmentation is a perfect way to add volume and curves to your silhouette, making you feel more voluptuous and feminine.
RESTORE BREASTS AFTER PREGNANCY AND AGING
We all know that pregnancy can take a toll on a mother’s body, especially her breasts. Mothers often end up with breasts that are sagging and have decreased volume, particularly if they breastfed their babies. Breast augmentation is a fantastic way to restore lost volume to breasts and make them appear more youthful and perkier.
EVEN OUT ASYMMETRICAL BREASTS
All women have some degree of breast asymmetry. But for some women, the differences in their breast sizes are so noticeable that it makes shopping for bras and bathing suits difficult, and the differences can be embarrassingly noticeable in clothing. Breast augmentation is a great way to balance out naturally uneven breasts.
INCREASE SELF-CONFIDENCE
Women who are unhappy with the natural appearance of their breasts, their current look can make them feel inferior and lack confidence. A breast augmentation can be a confidence booster, making women feel more comfortable in their bodies.

Dr. Laliberte’s Surgical Techniques For Beautiful, Long-Lasting Results
Custom Dual Plane For Natural Appearance
Custom Dual plane involves placing the upper portion of the implant under the pectoral muscle, while allowing the lower half of the implant to sit directly under the breast tissue.
It is neither completely ‘under the muscle’ or ‘over the muscle,’ but a combination of both.
The Internal Bra For Long Lasting Results
The internal bra technique involves placing a scaffold composed of biocompatible material along the lower portion of your breast. This material adds support, just like a bra would, except the support is within the breast itself. The scaffold is absorbed by the body over time and replaced by natural, supportive collagen.
Fat Grafting For A Fuller And Defined Clevage
In cases where a patient is naturally lean and looking for a more defined clevage, implants alone will often not resolve this issue. The harvested fat injected into key areas of the breasts will reduce the gap between the breasts and will equally add some natural cleavage without the need for very large implants.
Breast Augmentation & Breast Implants at Radiance Plastic Surgery
Breast augmentation sometimes referred to as a “breast aug” or “boob job” by patients, involves using breast implants or fat transfer to increase the size of your breasts. Breast augmentation is a common plastic surgery procedure, suitable for women who want to enhance the size of small or asymmetrical breasts, want to restore volume in breasts after weight loss, pregnancy or breastfeeding, or want fuller breasts. Smaller breasts or breasts that have lost their previous volume are enlarged using the sub-glandular or sub-pectoral placement of silicone (gummy bear) breast implants.
Breast augmentation is also referred to as augmentation mammoplasty. When fat from another part of the patient’s body is used to create the improved breast volume, the procedure is referred to as fat transfer breast augmentation.
What Breast Augmentation Surgery Can Achieve
- Increase fullness and projection of your breasts
- Improve balance of breast and hip contours
- Enhance your self-image and self-confidence
Breast Augmentation With Lift
Breast Augmentation Surgery is commonly combined with a breast lift for those who have lost volume and shape in their breast. Sub-glandular or sub-pectoral breast augmentation with silicone breast implants combined with a breast lift.
How Much Does Breast Augmentation | Breast Implants Cost?
Each of our patient’s cases is unique, however, the average cost of Breast Augmentation | Breast Implants range from $9,500 – $16,500 depending on options such as additional liposuction with fat grafting and platelet rich plasma enrichment plus the cost of the implant devices. the cost of Breast Augmentation with lift varies considerably depending on the type of lift that is required and generally starts at $13,000 and up.
Breast Augmentation & Breast Implants – The Consultation
Am I A Good Candidate For Breast Augmentation | Breast Implants?
You may be a good candidate for breast augmentation if:
- You are physically healthy and you aren’t pregnant or breastfeeding
- You have realistic expectations
- Your breasts are fully developed
- You are bothered by the feeling that your breasts are too small
- You are dissatisfied with your breasts losing shape and volume after pregnancy, weight loss or with aging
- You are unhappy with the upper part of your breast appearing “empty”
- Your breasts are asymmetrical
- One or both breasts failed to develop normally or have an elongated shape
If you’re considering surgery, spend some time reviewing breast augmentation photos and learning about what to expect during recovery. Preparation ahead of time helps patients have reasonable expectations and a smoother recovery.
What Can I Expect During A Breast Augmentation Consultation?
During your breast augmentation consultation be prepared to discuss:
- Why you want breast augmentation surgery, your expectations and the desired outcome
- Medical conditions, drug allergies and previous medical treatments
- Current medications, vitamins, herbal supplements, alcohol, tobacco and drug use
- Family history of breast cancer and results of any mammograms or previous biopsies
Dr. Laliberte will also:
- Evaluate your general health status and any pre-existing health conditions or risk factors
- Examine and measure your breasts, including detailed measurements of their size and shape, skin quality and placement of your nipples and areolas
- Take photographs
- Discuss your options and recommend a course of treatment
- Discuss likely outcomes of breast augmentation and any risks or potential complications
Gummy Bear Breast Implants
Here at Radiance Plastic Plastic Surgery, we primarily perform implantation with Gummy Bear Implants due to their overall benefits when compared with traditional implants. Gummy bear implants are firmer, hold their shape better, and feel more natural to the touch. They simulate the feel of a young woman’s breast. Both gummy bear and traditional silicone implants are softer to the touch than saline implants.
Gummy bear breast implants maintain their shape even when the implant shell is broken. The consistency of the silicone gel inside the implant is thicker than traditional silicone gel implants. Shaped gummy bear breast implants have more projection at the bottom and are tapered towards the top.

Breast Augmentation & Breast Implants – Choosing The Right Implants
For many women, the decision to get a breast augmentation is a process that requires several different factors before reaching the final decision. One such factor that is often quite difficult is choosing the right size for the implant — not too large, not too small. We know that breast size affects many aspects of a woman’s life, including her relationships, social interactions and overall physical well-being. We want to make sure that our patients have the resources and guidance to choose the perfect implant size!
Which Breast Implant Size Should I Choose?
Choosing the size of your implant may be the most difficult step. Breast implant sizes are not measured as breast cup sizes but rather as cc’s (cubic centimeters). During your consultation, you will be shown a breast volume sizing chart and you can try on samples to see which size looks and feels right. Patients are also encouraged to look at and bring in pictures that appeal to them.
Clear communication, a lot of questions and a good idea of what you are hoping for will help Dr. Laliberte determine the size and shape of the implant that would best suit your needs and goals. Dr. Laliberte and our healthcare team will help to make recommendations that will make this decision much easier and simplified.
Which Breast Implant Profile Should I Choose?
Choosing the right breast implant profile is an important decision that will play a significant role in your breast augmentation outcome. The best implant profile for you will depend on a variety of factors, including:
- Your body type
- Your selected implant size
- The final breast appearance you would like to achieve
- When determining the right implant profile for you, Dr. Laliberte will evaluate your frame size, the width of your chest, and the amount of natural breast tissue you possess.
Are you looking for subtle, natural looking results or a more dramatic outcome? Is prominent cleavage an important goal for you? Do you prefer a fuller, rounder breast appearance? Your answer to these questions will help determine the right breast implant profile for you.
Breast Augmentation & Breast Implants – The Procedure
How Should I Prepare For Breast Augmentation?
In preparing for breast augmentation, you may be asked to:
- Get a blood test
- Take certain medications or adjust your current medications
- Stop smoking
- Avoid taking aspirin and certain anti-inflammatory drugs as they can increase bleeding
- Stop taking recreational drugs, such as cocaine
What Are The Steps Of A Breast Augmentation Procedure?
A breast augmentation procedure includes the following steps:
Step 1 – Anesthesia
Medications are administered for your comfort during the surgical procedure. The choices include intravenous sedation and general anesthesia. Dr. Laliberte will recommend the best choice for you.
Step 2 – The incision
Incisions are made in inconspicuous areas to minimize visible scarring. You and Dr. Laliberte will discuss which incision options are appropriate for your desired outcome. Incision options include: along the areolar edge (peri-areolar incision), the fold under the breast (inframammary fold) and in the armpit (axillary incision). A belly-button approach is associated with a higher complication rate.
Incisions vary based on the type of breast implant, degree of enlargement desired, your particular anatomy and patient-surgeon preference.
Step 3 – Inserting and placing the breast implant
After the incision is made, a breast implant is inserted into a pocket either:
Under the pectoral muscle (a submuscular placement)
Directly behind the breast tissue, over the pectoral muscle (a submammary/ subglandular placement)
The method for inserting and positioning breast implants depends on the type of implant, degree of enlargement desired, your body type and Dr. Laliberte’s recommendations.
Step 4 – Closing the incisions
Incisions are closed with layered sutures in the breast tissue and with sutures, skin adhesive or surgical tape to close the skin.
Over time the incision lines will fade. The quality of scar depends on many things, including your genetics, exposure of your body to nicotine and infection.
Breast Augmentation & Breast Implants Recovery & Results
What Should I Expect During My Breast Augmentation Recovery?
During your breast augmentation recovery, your breasts will be wrapped in gauze dressings and an elastic bandage or support bra will minimize swelling and support the breasts as they heal.
Prior to leaving, you will be given specific postoperative instructions for your breast implant recovery and a follow-up appointment with Dr. Laliberte. Your prescribed medications may include pain pills and an antibiotic to prevent infection.
Wear your support garment (a bra or elastic band, called a bandeau) around the clock as instructed by Dr. Laliberte. Acute pain typically subsides after one to five days, however, you may experience soreness and swelling for a few weeks. Resume exercise and normal activity according to Dr. Laliberte’s direction.
What Results Should I Expect After Breast Augmentation Surgery?
While a breast augmentation yields larger breasts right away, the final results may take a few weeks as the swelling subsides and the skin stretches. Incision lines may take several months to fade.
Recovery
Most individuals take 4 weeks off from work to allow for recovery. If you do office work, you may be able to return as early as 2 weeks. Let your discomfort be your guide. You can resume normal activities by the end of 2 weeks. It will take 4 weeks to get back to significant aerobic or physical activity.
Breast Augmentation & Breast Implant Frequently Asked Questions
The final results of breast augmentation are visible gradually. Breast implants typically sit fairly high on the chest during the first few weeks post-procedure until the swelling subsides, tissues soften, and muscles stretch. Typically, women will have a fairly good idea of what their new breasts will look like about 6 post-op, however, they may continue to change for several weeks or even months.
Most patients’ incisions will heal in approximately 1-2 weeks.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding are not affected by breast augmentation, and most women can successfully breastfeed after breast augmentation. However, pregnancy and breastfeeding may change the shape of your augmented breasts.
Also, if you have nursed a baby within the year before augmentation, you may produce milk for a few days after surgery. This may cause some discomfort, but can be treated with medication prescribed by your doctor.
In some cases, breast implants can lift sagging breasts, however, implants will not entirely help women concerned about moderate to severe sagging of the breasts. Breast augmentation alone does not remove sagging skin and the weight of breast implants can commonly exacerbate sagging.
Combining a breast lift with implants is common in these cases and can deliver satisfying results for women who have lost breast volume with age or after breastfeeding.
Yes. Revision breast augmentation is performed for multiple reasons, including the desire for new or different implants.
Patients who have saline implants typically visit our clinic to exchange them for the latest generation of Gummy Bear Implants (cohesive silicone gel implants). Other reasons women get revision surgery is to change the size or shape of their implants, or potentially they’ve experienced some type of implant-related problem that they would like rectified.
This is not true. Breast implants only need to be changed if a problem occurs. Breast implants should not be changed as a matter of course. Some women will live with their original implants and will never require a revision.
Your implants will closely behave like normal breasts. Aging will typically occur. Usually, breasts with implants tend to hold their shape longer and better than if the operation had never been performed.
